Full list: 24 countries qualify for 2023 AFCON

All 24 nations set to compete in the 2023 Africa Cup of Nations in Cote D’Ivoire have successfully secured their places in the tournament.

According to reports from the News Agency of Nigeria, Cameroon, a five-time AFCON champion, solidified the impressive roster of qualified teams by defeating Burundi 3-0 on Tuesday.

Taking a closer look at the list of qualified countries, we find that a total of 12 former AFCON champions, including Nigeria, which has clinched the title three times, will be gracing the event in January 2024.

Among these, the host nation, Cote d’Ivoire, will lead a formidable contingent from West Africa, featuring 11 countries, including the reigning champions, Senegal, as well as Nigeria, Ghana, Guinea, Burkina Faso, and others.

East Africa will be represented by Tanzania, making a return to the finals after a commendable performance in the qualifiers.

The North African nations will see participation from Egypt, boasting seven-time championship wins, alongside World Cup semi-finalists Morocco, Tunisia, and Algeria.

Egypt will be striving for an eighth title, aiming to build on their strong performances in the 2017 and 2021 finals.

It’s worth noting that there won’t be any debutant teams in this edition, as the continent’s football powerhouses successfully maintained their qualifications.

The 2023 AFCON has been rescheduled from its original June 2023 date and will now take place from January 13 to February 11, 2024.
