Jacinda Ardern, the prime minister of New Zealand, has announced her resignation as of February 7. She claims she lacks the motivation and stamina to run for reelection in the general election this year.

Ardern informed reporters on Thursday in Napier, New Zealand, where her Labour Party is convening a caucus, that she would continue to serve in parliament until April. She added that the poll would take place on October 14.

She addressed members of her Labour Party, “For me, it’s time.” Simply said, I don’t have enough fuel left for four more years.

New Zealand Labour will win the upcoming election, according to Ardern.

The issues that most directly affect New Zealanders will continue to be the government’s top priority throughout this year and into the election, she added, even though I won’t be running for office.
