Threads is a social media application developed by Meta Platforms (formerly Facebook).  launched on July 5, 2023 as an accompanying app to Instagram, Threads aims to offer a more intimate and private means of connecting with close friends and family.

By leveraging your Instagram contacts, Threads conveniently populates your list of potential friends. Alternatively, you can manually search for and add friends by their usernames.

Once your friends are added, you can exchange text messages, share photos and videos, and even create polls and group chats to foster engaging interactions within the app. Threads focuses on fostering personal connections in a more secure and secluded environment.

Now here are the steps on how to install Threads on your phone:

Android

1. Open the Google Play Store on your Android phone.
2. In the search bar, type “Threads”.
3. Locate the official Threads app from Instagram and tap on it.
4. Click on the “Install” button.
5. Allow the app to install.
6. Once the app is installed, open it and sign in with your Instagram account.

iOS

1. Open the App Store on your iPhone or iPad.
2. In the search bar, type “Threads”.
3. Locate the official Threads app from Instagram and tap on it.
4. Click on the “Get” or “Install” button.
5. Authenticate using your Apple ID, if prompted.
